The Department of Environmental
Protection will be implementing shortly, "Sick Building Syndrome" regulations
as they relate to the effects on office personnel. These regulations will of
course be lengthy and if not understood by the end user, will be extremely
costly as well. Sick Building Syndrome which has been documented by many cases
throughout the country has resulted in Lost Time on the job and Increased
Health Insurance Costs on Employers and Building Owners as well.
In 1984 the World Health
Organization Committee reported that up to 30 percent of new and remodeled
buildings worldwide may be the subject of excessive complaints related to indoor air quality. This report which was prepared over 16 years ago
represents the tip of the iceberg as to the ever increasing problems of Indoor
Air Quality.
